Foods for a healthy pregnancy diet

Eating your favorite foods is enjoyable, when you are pregnant though things are different. You don't want to eat a lot of unhealthy food because now your baby is directly impacted by your diet. You can ensure a healthy diet for your baby by eating the following foods.

Whole grains

Whole grain bread and cereal is great, you can also eat whole grain crackers with your favorite toppings!


Add all the different kinds of beans to your diet, these provide a lot of nutrients that will promote your babies growth. You can eat these in soups or salads or any other healthy meal that beans can compliment.


Omega-3 fatty acids promote brain development and vision in babies, and salmon is a great source. Plus it provides protein and B vitamins. Salmon is also relatively low in mercury compared to other fish. Try it grilled, broiled, or on a salad. Limit yourself to no more than 12 ounces of salmon per week to minimize any mercury exposure.


Eggs are a great source of protein and also an extremely flexible food. The versatility of eggs are endless, you can benefit from this food by eating foods that were made with eggs, whether its eggs by themselves or eggs mixed into baked goods.


Blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries are delicious snacks and taste great in pancakes and on top of cereal. Berries are packed with vitamin C, potassium, folate, and fiber.
